What are you going to do?

As Regulatory Affairs & Specification Manager at Prinsen Berning, you are responsible for ensuring that all bar and powder products comply with applicable legislation and customer requirements in the markets we serve. You play a key role in safeguarding brand integrity, supporting international growth, and enabling efficient product development and launch processes.

In this role, you establish and govern standardized ways of working for specification management, ensuring a single source of truth from raw materials and packaging to intermediates and finished products. You harmonize the interpretation of legislation across the organization and act as the regulatory expert for both internal stakeholders and customers.

From early development phases through change management and market introduction, you ensure that regulatory and specification requirements are embedded in projects and decision-making.

Your core tasks

· Develops, implements, and maintains regulatory compliance strategies for new and existing bar and powder products.

· Interprets, monitors, and harmonizes EU and international food legislation and translates requirements into clear internal guidance.

· Prepares, coordinates, and submits regulatory dossiers for novel foods, additives, and export markets.

· Reviews and approves product labels, claims, and marketing materials in line with applicable legislation.

· Defines, implements, and maintains standardized processes for specification creation, approval, change control, and maintenance.

· Ensures a single source of truth for specifications covering raw materials, packaging, intermediates, and finished products.

· Plays a key role in the Management of Change (MOC) process by performing regulatory and specification impact assessments.

· Manages customer specification portals and provides customer support on regulatory, legislative, and export-related topics.

· Supports internal, customer, and regulatory audits and responds to regulatory inquiries.

· Leads and develops the specification management team and trains internal stakeholders on regulatory and specification requirements.

· Collaborate with Project Management, packaging engineers, R&D, QA, and Commercial teams to align specifications with business needs.

What we ask

· A completed higher professional education (HBO) or university education (WO) degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or a related discipline.

· Minimum of 5–7 years of relevant experience in Regulatory Affairs and specification management within the food industry or FMCG.

· Strong knowledge of EU food legislation and experience with international regulatory frameworks.

· Experience with specification management systems; affinity with data governance and process standardization.

· Proven experience in stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.

· Good command of English; excellent spoken Dutch and German communication skills.

· A competitive salary of €5,269 – €7,527 gross per month based on 40 hours (depending on experience).

· Holiday entitlement: you will receive 30 days’ holiday per year, consisting of 20 statutory holiday days, 5 days above the statutory minimum and 5 ADV days.

· Travel allowance (€0.23/km);

· Pension scheme (5.15% personal contribution);

· Vitality budget of up to €250 per year;
